There are various organizations concerned with soccer referees in the Province of Ontario. The Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) is the compulsory membership body, if you wish to referee soccer in the province. In order to do this, the OSA provides the Entry level courses for persons wishing to start refereeing and the on field assessments so that they may progress up the referee ladder. In addition to registering and assessing referees, the OSA is looking after all aspects of soccer including players, coaches, teams, leagues, scheduling, rules, etc.. The OSA has many hats to wear other than just soccer referees. Check out this site for more information and links to where you need to go. The other major referee organization in Ontario is the
Ontario Soccer Referees' Association (OSRA). The OSRA is an
Associate Member of the OSA. This is a voluntary
organization with only one hat to wear - improving the
standards of refereeing and promoting the improvement of the
welfare of referees. Thus the OSRA is only concerned about
the well being of the referee. The HDSRA is the local Member
of the OSRA. |
