Best of the Winter Season
The ground-hog did not see his shadow and Spring is coming
and that signals the start of soccer referee summer season.
I would like you to consider joining Huronia District Soccer
Referees’ Association for 2011.
HDSRA was appointed, in 2010, by HDSA as the referee
organization for referees beyond the local club level. We
will be providing the Referee Instruction, Referee Mentoring
and Referee Organization to Huronia referees. We want to
make the referee on-field product a better one for soccer in
Huronia.
The OSRA is in the process of re-inventing itself to become
a meaningful organization for the referees of Ontario by
doing the same thing ... filling the gap between the
OSA’s Entry Level Course, doing upper level games and
becoming a Regional referee. No organization other than the
OSRA and your local HDSRA is doing that. HDSRA is the local
member of the OSRA.
In order to do this we need experienced local referees to be
members. The HDSRA membership is on the re-bound, more than
doubling its size since the 2009 season. We need experienced
referees to act as paid HDSRA instructors. We need
experienced referees to be paid as HDSRA mentors to younger
and less experienced referees. We need to produce a better
product on the field to ensure that the children and older
soccer players have the best that we, the referees of
Huronia, can offer.
Think about the people that helped you along with your
referee career whether it has been short or long. We have
all had people that have helped us. The next generation of
referees needs that help from referees with your
experience.
The HDSRA has a web site (www.hdsra.com) which is currently
being re-loaded, due to a technical glitch, and this web
site, in 2011, will be the go-to site for Huronia Referees
to obtain information and it will be the site for game
assignments. The site will be open for all Huronia
referees.
In order to do this we need members. There is a cost to
running any organization but the cost to join HDSRA is less
than a game fee. But more important than the money, we need
experienced referees ... we need you.
On the main page is the 2011 HDSRA Registration Form.
Download it, fill it out and send it back to me. The
necessary information is on the form.
If you decide not to join make sure that you have my email
as an accepted address for your computer as, from time to
time, we will be sending out blanket emails to all the
Huronia Referees on behalf of the HDSA.
